As Above, So Below — The Alchemy of Light and Matter in Beeswax and Crystal Art

The Sacred Meaning of “As Above, So Below”

The phrase “As above, so below” originates from ancient Hermetic philosophy, a mystical teaching that reveals the deep unity between the cosmos and the self. It expresses the truth that what exists in the heavens is reflected on earth, and what we hold within our inner world manifests in our outer reality.

To me, as an artist and healer, it means that the invisible realms of spirit, light, and emotion are always mirrored in the visible world of texture, pigment, and form. When I paint, I’m translating energy into matter—transforming inspiration into something you can see, touch, and feel.

Every artwork becomes a kind of living prayer, an invitation to remember that we are part of a larger cosmic rhythm, and that beauty, when created with intention, can realign us with that greater harmony.

The Alchemy of Beeswax, Pigment, and Crystal

My painting As Above, So Below is beautifully layered with sensuously sultry glazes of textured beeswax, French oil stick, and pure pigment, and studded with a quartz crystal mandala.

The beeswax, warm and fragrant, carries the vibration of life and the sacred geometry of the hive. Each layer is gently fused by heat—echoing the alchemist’s fire that transforms the raw into the refined, the earthly into the divine. The French oil sticks add richness and depth, their pigments dancing through the wax like auroras of emotion.

The quartz crystal mandala at the heart of the piece acts as both anchor and amplifier. Quartz is known as the “master healer,” capable of transmitting, storing, and magnifying energy. In this painting, the crystals shimmer like stars—a constellation embedded in wax—bridging heaven and earth.

As Above, So Below in Art and Spirit

The artwork invites contemplation of the eternal relationship between light and shadow, spirit and matter, heaven and earth.

  • The “above” speaks of the invisible—inspiration, divine intelligence, intuition, love.
  • The “below” embodies the physical—wax, colour, texture, form, and the sensual delight of creation.

In the act of painting, these two worlds meet. The result is a living piece of energy art, where each brushstroke, each crystal, becomes a conduit for light. The layered beeswax glows from within, holding whispers of the stars—a reminder that the divine is not distant but embedded in every moment, every cell, every colour.

Healing Through Harmony

As Above, So Below” is also a message of balance and wholeness. It reminds us that healing occurs when we restore alignment between our inner and outer worlds—when our thoughts, feelings, and actions reflect the same love and clarity we seek from the universe.

When you welcome this painting into your space, you’re inviting more than beauty—you’re inviting harmony. The beeswax hums with the frequency of nature. The crystals pulse with light intelligence. Together they work as a vibrational healing tool, infusing your home or studio with calm, clarity, and joy.

A Bridge Between Worlds

Each piece I create is part of an ongoing exploration of how art can be both aesthetic and energetic medicine. Through the ancient alchemy of beeswax and mineral pigment, I seek to bring the unseen into being—to give light a body, and spirit a form.

As Above, So Below is more than a painting; it’s a mirror of the soul. It reminds us that what shines above—in the heavens, the stars, the divine—also shines within us. And when we live, love, and create from that awareness, we participate in the great creative dance of the cosmos itself.
