A dream whispers in your ear

Hey everyone, it’s Cassandra, the Joyful Artist. You might like to come for a walk with me down to the studio and see my latest work. It’s inspired by a beautiful sunny spring day. It’s the first of September. There’s a new moon in Virgo that will be arriving shortly. The stars are aligned!

I’ve been painting luscious layers inspired by the landscape. It’s beautiful, soft, and absolutely serene, with lovely, soft colors. 

I had a large canvas painting underneath it, and it just wasn’t speaking to me anymore. So, I pulled an oracle card: ‘ Love is the answer.’ And I thought, ‘What do I love more than anything?’ I love Helen Frankenthaler’s fluid-colour field paintings.

 I also love the work of Oscar de la Renta’s collection of clothes inspired by paintings he’s gathered from artists. Imagine ‘A Dream Whispers In Your Ear ‘ as a lovely dress.

 ‘A Dream Whispers In Your Ear ‘ is also inspired by textures and misty mornings, spent in bed watching the mist roll over the water. I love abstract landscapes. 

This is a short video, a sneak peek into my process and the inspiration behind this new work. I discuss the tools of the craft, how I love using rollers and sponges, and how I love being surprised by where the painting wants to flow.

My partner came into the studio as I finished, and  his first reaction was, “Why did you paint over that other one?” Then, as he saw this one emerge, he said, “Wow, that is really cool; don’t touch a thing.”
