Stand beneath an ancient rainforest canopy.
Pause.
Look upwards.
Notice how shafts of golden light dance between thousands of emerald leaves. Listen to birdsong echoing through the trees. Feel your heartbeat gently settle as the breeze moves overhead.
Nothing is truly still. The leaves sway. The insects hum. Birds soar through the canopy. Light streams through the branches. Your heart beats. Your lungs breathe. Your brain pulses with electrical activity.
In that moment, you begin to understand one of the most profound ideas ever contemplated:
Many people express this as, “Everything is frequency.”
There is deep wisdom in this statement, but like all profound truths, it deserves to be understood with care.
As both an artist and lifelong student of beauty, I have discovered that understanding frequency has transformed not only the way I paint, but also the way I experience life itself.
Let’s begin with the science. Frequency simply means how often something repeats in one second. A hummingbird’s wings have a frequency. Ocean waves have a frequency. Your heartbeat has a frequency. Musical notes each possess their own frequency. Light itself oscillates at astonishing speeds.
Frequency is measured in Hertz (Hz). One Hertz simply means one cycle per second. The universe is filled with movement, cycles and oscillations. This isn’t mystical. It is physics. I remember fondly my physics lessons in my convent school. They were filled with magic and wonder. Everything was moving constantly.
Modern physics has revealed something astonishing. What appears solid is anything but. Every atom consists of an incredibly tiny nucleus surrounded by electrons existing in quantum states.
Matter is dynamic. Stars pulse. Planets orbit. Light travels as electromagnetic waves. Water ripples. Even silence contains movement beyond our perception. The universe is alive with rhythm.
This understanding echoes the ancient wisdom of many traditions. Pythagoras described the Music of the Spheres, believing the cosmos itself possessed mathematical harmony. In India, creation begins with Om, the primordial vibration. The opening words of John’s Gospel speak of the Logos—the divine ordering principle through which creation unfolds.
Different languages.
Different cultures.
One shared intuition:
Reality is not static. Reality unfolds through pattern.
Albert Einstein changed our understanding forever. His famous equation, E = mc² revealed that matter and energy are interchangeable. Matter is condensed energy. Although popular culture often simplifies this into “everything is energy,” the deeper truth is even more beautiful.
Everything participates in an unfolding dance of energy, forces, fields and relationships. Nothing exists in complete isolation.
Music provides perhaps the easiest way to understand frequency. Every note possesses a measurable vibration. Yet a symphony is not beautiful because of one single frequency. It is beautiful because of relationship.
Harmony.
Contrast.
Rhythm.
Silence.
Movement.
The same is true of life. A magnificent painting is not created by one colour. It emerges through relationships between light and shadow, warmth and coolness, openness and mystery. Nature composes beauty in exactly the same way.
There is a reason forests calm us. There is a reason we instinctively slow down beneath cathedral-like trees. Our nervous systems evolved within nature.
The patterns found in leaves, rivers, clouds and branches are deeply familiar to our biology. Many researchers study how natural environments reduce stress, improve attention and enhance wellbeing. Whether standing beneath towering trees or gazing into flowing water, we often feel ourselves returning to a quieter rhythm.
Perhaps this is why I find myself endlessly painting rainforest canopies. Not because they are merely beautiful. Because they remind us of something our souls already recognise.
One of the most extraordinary ideas in physics is resonance. Resonance occurs when two systems naturally vibrate together. A tuning fork can cause another tuning fork to begin vibrating. Opera singers have shattered glass through resonance. Bridges can oscillate dangerously if wind matches their natural frequency.
Resonance is not magic, and yet it feels like it. It is one of nature’s fundamental organising principles. Human beings experience resonance too. Music moves us. Laughter spreads through a room. Calm people often help others become calm. Beauty invites stillness. Paintings touch our hearts profoundly.
While emotions are not measurable frequencies in the scientific sense, we often describe experiences as uplifting, heavy, harmonious or discordant because they genuinely affect our inner state.
As an artist, this is where science becomes breathtaking. Every colour we see is simply light of a different wavelength. Deep crimson. Emerald green. Vibrant violet. Golden sunlight. They are all expressions of the same phenomenon.
Light.
My Cathedral of Light paintings are inspired by this living conversation between sunlight and the rainforest canopy. Each painting becomes an invitation to stand beneath an invisible cathedral where nature itself becomes stained glass.
Many spiritual teachings describe love as a “high frequency.” Scientifically, some believe love is not measured in Hertz. Neither is compassion. Neither is gratitude. However, these qualities profoundly influence our physiology, behaviour and relationships. When we cultivate love, gratitude, generosity and wonder, we often breathe differently, think differently and interact differently. Measurable changes occur in our nervous system, hormones, heart rhythms and brain activity. Our lived experience feels expansive.
This is why the language of “higher frequency” has become such a powerful metaphor.
Dr. David R. Hawkins believed that beauty has the power to elevate consciousness. In Power vs. Force, he wrote that “Great works of art, music, and architecture that calibrate between 600 and 700 can transport us temporarily to higher levels of consciousness and are universally recognized as inspirational and timeless.”
Within his Map of Consciousness framework, these masterpieces were seen not merely as cultural achievements but as expressions of profound inner awareness. Although Hawkins’ calibration method has not been validated by mainstream science, much of what we intuitively know hasn’t been either, his observation resonates with the lived experience of many people who feel deeply moved by a soaring cathedral, a transcendent piece of music, or an extraordinary work of art. Such experiences often inspire awe, stillness, wonder, and a renewed sense of connection.
His work speaks deeply to my own artistic practice. My aspiration is not to claim that a painting possesses a measurable energetic value, I leave that to viewers to experience for themselves, but to create works that invite contemplation, beauty, hope, and quiet presence. If a collector stands before one of my Cathedral of Light paintings and feels, even for a moment, more peaceful, more inspired, or more connected to the natural world, then the painting has fulfilled its highest purpose. Great art reminds us of what is possible to feel within ourselves.
When I paint, I am not trying to illustrate physics. I am creating an experience. Luxury art is more than decoration. It shapes atmosphere. It changes how a room feels—and in turn, how we feel.
It slows the pace of attention. Collectors often tell me they feel calmer standing before my paintings. Some describe them as peaceful. Others speak of hope, or feeling more joy—even in the wake of terminal illness. Several say they remind them of lying beneath ancient trees looking towards the light.
That is resonance.
Not because paint emits mystical vibrations, but because beauty transforms perception. Great art invites us into a different quality of attention.
My one-word intention today was Divine Truth. The deeper I explore science and spirituality, the more I believe the Divine Truth is not simply that everything is frequency.
It is something even more beautiful. The universe is woven together through relationships, rhythms, light and patterns. Frequency is one expression of this deeper order.
Beauty is another.
Truth is another.
Love is another.
Wisdom is another.
The invitation is not merely to “raise your frequency.” It is to become more truthful. More present. More compassionate. More attentive. More awake to the extraordinary beauty already surrounding you.
Every morning, sunlight filters through millions of rainforest leaves outside my Panama studio. Every day that light is different. Every painting teaches me something new. Every shaft of light reminds me that illumination is not created by removing every shadow. It is created through relationship.
Light needs darkness.
Music needs silence.
Truth needs courage.
Beauty needs someone willing to stop long enough to notice.
Perhaps that is the greatest Divine Truth of all. We are not separate observers standing outside the symphony. We are living notes within it.
And every act of kindness, every truthful word, every beautiful creation and every moment of wonder adds another luminous note to the great Cathedral of Light we are building together.
