Caldera, Cassandra, 2026
This work was born from a day that felt less like an outing and more like an initiation.
At Caldera, Panama, the hot springs are encircled by a gorgeous stone tower, ancient in feeling though shaped by human hands—a quiet sentinel holding heat, water, and time. It rises like a portal of wellbeing, a threshold between the everyday world and something older, slower, and profoundly intelligent.
As we swam in the river among smooth volcanic stones, the water cool and alive against the skin, I found myself thinking of Dr David Clements’ teachings on Living Energetics and plasma—the idea that life is not static matter but a continuous field of movement, charge, and coherence.
The river felt alive in exactly that way.
Not just flowing—but communicating.
When we slipped into the hot springs, heat gathered the body back into itself. Steam lifted. Muscles softened. Thoughts loosened their grip. It felt as though the water wasn’t merely warming us, but reorganising us—bringing scattered energies back into rhythm.
Later, stretched out on a giant sun-warmed rock, I experienced a moment of deep stillness. No striving. No shaping. Just breath. Just stone. Just the quiet hum of the earth doing what it has always done.
In that moment, Dr Clements’ work returned to me again—his description of plasma as the bridge between form and consciousness, the living field that animates matter and memory alike. The rocks, the water, the heat, the body—none of it felt separate. Everything pulsed as one system, one conversation.
This piece carries that experience:
It is not an image of Caldera.
It is a trace of energetic immersion—
a mark left by heat, plasma, and presence.
A drawing shaped by the intelligence of the land.
This is what I think of now as art as living energetics:
gesture as charge,
line as memory,
and the canvas as a quiet field where the body’s knowing can speak.
