“A lovely, lovely lady called me last night to arrange a private viewing to the studio. She went home with three of my very special works on paper. The best thing of all is that one of the paintings in particular, she said she chose because it was going to inspire her to be bold and confident as she pursues making her own art too.
Cassandra’s style is characterized by:

“Te Ataroa was inspired by and named after a beautiful baby who was only three months old when I saw her while she was with her mum shopping for groceries. The young couple had lost a little girl who, a year earlier, was stillborn. Their new daughter Te Ataroa was a blessing. Translated her name means “the long morning”.
As I painted the artwork I imagined Te Ataroa’s sister shining down from heaven, sending her family endless kisses across the morning sky. The colors were inspired by the pretty little pink, white, and green floral dress Te Ataroa was wearing when I met her. I showed the young couple a photo of the painting and they told me that their mother wept because it touched her heart so deeply. After showing this painting in a group exhibition, The Beauty of Resilience, just as New Zealand emerged from the first Covid lockdown in 2020, I gifted this painting to the family.”
5. Mixed Media Techniques
Cassandra is known for her experimentation with mixed media techniques. She combines various materials and mediums, such as acrylics, oils, collage, crystals, gemstones and texture, to create layers and textures that add depth and interest to her artwork. This innovative approach adds a unique and tactile quality to her pieces.

“This bespoke piece was commissioned by a couple as a ‘statement piece’ to adorn the large white walls of their newly refurbished Bay of Islands home. The brief was to create a truly original and totally sensual beeswax artwork that worked with existing paintings, captured the vibe of their sea and bush view, evoked the beauty of hydrangeas—and, above all, oozed joy.
